Who we are

Smith & Co is a construction cost consultancy focused on the delivery of quantity surveying and project management services. Our core focus is on client service, we provide exceptionally high levels of client service at competitive rates. The company was founded in 2015, by Tim Smith & Erika Smith who have 34 combined years of experience in the construction consultancy field.
Technology
The backbone of our business is accuracy and transparency in construction cost certainty. We use the latest software and hardware tools such as Cloud based systems (for collaborative team work and secure backup), the latest DimX measuring software for direct digital measurement of CAD & Revit drawings and WinQS elemental estimate and bills of quantities production software.
Innovation

Some of our innovative techniques are Project Payment Summaries, discounted cash flow analysis, ongoing internal & external training for all staff and third party project funds administration.

the team
Previously, Tim was the Business Line Lead for quantity surveying at Aecom SA (pyt) Ltd, heading up 3 QS offices in the Western Cape and leading a staff contingent of 52. Tim joined the then Farrow Laing Ntene in 2000 as a candidate quantity surveyor and grew within the company to associate, local director and ultimately heading up the regional business unit. During this time the company evolved from a national partnership (Farrow Laing Ntene) to an international partnership (Davis Langdon) to its current status as the world’s largest multidisciplinary construction consultancy (Aecom).
Erika was formerly an executive at Aecom in Cape Town and has proven herself to be capable of delivering large and complex projects within budget and motivating teams for excellence. Her market sector experience includes commercial offices, data and contact centres, residential, luxury residential, retail, education and industrial projects in Cape Town. Erika’s project expertise includes feasibility studies, contract documentation, cost planning, procurement and cost management.
